What is the approach you use when you work with clients?I always take a personalized approach to each client I work with. I also use three guiding parameters to influence my recommendations-- science-backed data, clinical experience, and historical nutrition data. With scientific data, I give heavy weight to experimental studies where there is a clear intervention and control group. I also consider observational studies but am skeptically curious with the conclusions they present. I've worked with clients for over a decade. I've seen some approaches work well, and other approaches work even better. So I use my experience as well as the experience of other trusted practitioners to guide my recommendations. One of the best long-term nutritional "studies" is the constant evolution of the human species. We have extensive data as to what diets humans have consumed and thrived on over the millenia. "Eat like your ancestors" is not just a catchphrase but is a guiding principle for optimal health.
What is YOUR diet?I'm an omnivore. I eat plants and animals. I prioritize healthy fats and proteins and limit carbohydrates to balance blood sugar and optimize my metabolic health. I'm disciplined but not rigid with my meals, and I've developed creative ways to enjoy occasional treats that are healthy and satisfying.
Do you accept insurance?As a holistic nutritionist, I do not accept insurance. Some HSA/FSA programs may accept my services, but you would need to investigate the requirements and details.
Will I have to stop eating my favorite foods if I work with you?When I work with you, you are in control of your diet. For many foods, there may be tradeoffs that I will explain. Together we can decide if a food is a reasonable option for you and how often. Some clients tell me from the beginning, "I'm not getting rid of X" and I always respect those choices.
Can I set up just one meeting with you?I have a "Free Discovery Call" where we can discuss your primary concerns and I can explain how we can work together. I'll give you some details on how I would approach your situation, and I won't pressure you into signing up for anything. There are two ways to work with me. I offer private coaching and online programs. Private coaching is where we work together on a one-to-one basis over an extended period of time. We meet either over the phone or through Zoom and progressively cover all the drivers of blood sugar dysfunction.
